Echoes of Light
Echos of Light is a spiritual and philosophical message for those that seek a greater understanding of their personal life. In the genre of Kalil Gibran’s “The Prophet”, Echos speaks to the philosophically interested, and seekers of self-knowledge.
Foreword by Pat Smith Nickell
To leave a footprint on the sands of time is all anyone can ask of his life. “Echoes of Light” is such a legacy – a shining signpost of spirituality, a marker for those seekers who follow, searching for direction.
This work was originally dictated to me in bits and pieces over the telephone in Autumn, 1986. I wrote it down on scraps of paper, transferred it to my primitive word processor, and finally printed it out in essay form. I recognized its significance, but it was somewhat difficult to read in that mode.
Because each line was so profound, I partitioned it into what eventually would become its present form in an attempt to make each phrase more meaningful to me, personally.
The words of this poem have resonated through my mind for several years. Each time I read even a few lines, its lyrical truth and spiritual message strike a new and different chord within my memory.
It is impossible to separate this work from its creator. It is an understatement to say that I admire the author of “Echoes of Light”. He has been my friend, it seems, since the beginning of time. If each of us is truly fortunate in life, we find a friend who serves as the wind beneath our wings. Sam Williams has been that kind of friend to me and “Echoes” is only one example of the magic he can accomplish when he reaches into himself and withdraws the words which have helped guide my life and that of many others over tome rocky shoals. He has been supportive of my decisions, gracious toward my talent, and tolerant of my faults. He is everything a friend could be.
“Echoes of Light” is not only an ageless monument to his wonderful creativity, it is a blueprint for the soul. It was my great honor to have assisted in its creation. I recognized instantly that I was hearing and typing a masterpiece of transcendental expressionism. Often, as I read literature or philosophy, I find a phrase or a sentence that fires my imagination. This work does that on every line.
“Echoes of Light” is a continual source of comfort and inspiration. My fondest hope is that you enjoy it, as I have, again and again, and that you find, as I know you will, fresh insight with every reading.
